“You should only contact attorney Gavlin if you have the time, money, and stress to spare. Judging by the comments on some reviews, she likes to claim she's available 24/7, which is a lie. Over two years, we were only able to reach her twice, after numerous unsuccessful attempts (lasting over a week). Our interactions were primarily through her assistants. We worked with Gavlin from October 2023 to March 2026. Our collaboration ended. It's scary to imagine what would have happened if we had reached an individual hearing with her, as she does abysmal work. She sent the asylum application form very late, without even making the promised revisions. The manner in which the contract was terminated defies any reasonable standards of business communication. She didn't provide any calculations for the work done (address changes were sent to the court, one motion to set a court date, and Form 589, which was simply copied from a form we had prepared in advance without her). Her assistant informed us that Gavlin could only return $6,000 of the $13,000 by bank transfer within two days, but they clearly had no intention of returning the money. Ultimately, her assistants sent us a photo of the receipt (uploading a photo is strictly prohibited; doing so could have blocked our account). Gavlin herself didn't respond to messages or calls, so we scheduled a consultation with her, but she didn't answer at the appointed time. When we reached her the next day on the eighth call, she yelled at us, saying that because of us she had to "stop the trial." When I asked why she hadn't answered at the appointed time the day before, she replied that "we are no longer her clients," so she didn't want to conduct a consultation with us and hung up (there was no contract termination document; we only stated our intention to terminate the contract). Ultimately, after numerous calls and promises of an online transfer, we arranged a meeting with her assistant at the office to pick up a bank check, even though they knew full well we lived six hours away. They offered to mail the check to us, but after two weeks of empty promises, we had neither the faith nor the time to agree to it. I ended up spending the entire day traveling there and back to pick up the check. Working with Gavlin is wasted energy, time, and money. This lawyer's behavior and lack of feedback indicate that if you are detained, no one will help you.”
